Jerry L. Griffith

Jerry L. Griffith, age 74, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019. He was born on November 14, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Wallace Walker Griffith and Erma Elizabeth Lunceford Griffith. On June 29, 1962, he married Velma Alice Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Jerry Lee Griffith, Jr. Jerry was a Christian in his faith and a United States Navy veteran. He retired from the Certainteed Gypsum Plant after thirty-nine years of service. After retirement did not suit him, he enjoyed working at the Crater of Diamonds State Park for four years and met people from all over the world. Jerry also enjoyed playing dominoes, checkers and croquet, bowling and sitting on the back porch watching the hummingbirds. He adored his family and his dog, Scooter. He is survived by his wife, Velma Griffith of Murfreesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Tammy Griffith of Murfreesboro and Danny and Pam Griffith of Enterprise, Alabama; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Vance Teel of Antoine and Christine and Roger Jones of Fleming Island, Florida; six grandchildren, Amanda Sullivan, Brian James, Danielle Griffith, Hesston Teel, Brent and Melanie Teel, Callie Jones and Isaac Jones; two great-grandchildren, Alyson Teel and Payten Teel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Donna Griffith of Las Vegas, Nevada and Stanley and Sharon Griffith of Billings, Montana; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Dick Boom of Downey, California and Jean and Eddie Elwell of Silver Creek, New York; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2019, in the First Christian Church in Murfreesboro with Bro. Rob Evans officiating.
