Jerry V. Douglass, 74, of Mabelvale, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011. He was born in Johnsville, Arkansas on May 20, 1936 to Oscar M. and Jewell Martin Douglass. He served in the Army National Guard for eight years and worked for AT&T for over nineteen years. He owned the first video store in Arkansas, the Video Gallery and also owned the Douglass Woodshop. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara C. Douglass; daughters, Jerilyn Ann Hess and Debora Lorraine Douglass of Little Rock; grandchildren, Nathan Douglass Hess and Jorgi Marie Hess; and brother, Oscar Dale Douglass of Johnsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Sam B. Douglass and sister, Reba C. Shirey.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, 12400 I-30, Little Rock, officiated by Dr. Paul Sanders. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church Building Fund.
