On April 4, 2025, Jerry Almer Jackson of Searcy, AR died at the age of 84.

Jerry was born in Stephenville, TX on January 4, 1941, to Almer and Dorothy Jackson. In his early years, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and later helped his grandsons earn their Eagles. He played center for the Abilene High School Eagles. From 1954 to 1957, the Warbirds won a national record of 49 straight games, 3 straight state championships, and 6 straight district titles.

On December 29, 1960, he married high school sweetheart, Nancy Frazier in Abilene. Together they moved the family telephone construction company to Stuttgart, AR in the early 1960s, where under their guidance it grew to a large regional firm. Later, Jerry retired from GTE in early 1990. He was an active member and ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian church. Jerry loved his family, Texas A&M football, and golf. He was a horseman, true cowboy, and entrepreneur.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter Jennifer (Len) Gardner of Sand Springs, OK; son Stoney (Lisa) Jackson of Beebe; brother Blaine Jackson of Stuttgart; 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Jerry was a son, husband, brother, dad, grandad, great granddad, uncle, friend, and mentor. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Visitation is Wednesday, April 9 from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at the Smith Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 404 W Dewitt Henry, Beebe, AR, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Rock Church Cemetery in Tolar, TX.
