Jerrie Derickson

Sarah Geraldine (Jerrie) Bush Brons Derickson, 93, of North Little Rock, passed away quietly in her home on February 20, 2016. She was born in Fort Hall, Idaho on July 21, 1922 to Charles Edward and Emma Louise (Scott) Bush. As a child, she and her family moved to Oklahoma, where her father was a school principal and her mother a teacher at an Indian school. When the family moved to Arkansas, her mother opened a beauty shop in the basement of the State Capitol and Jerrie spent many hours helping her there. Following high school, she trained as a stenographer and worked as a secretary in the State Department of Education from which she retired many years later.

At age 25, Jerrie married Raymond J. Brons and they had one child, Janis, before he passed away. Later, she married John Derickson, a marriage that lasted over 61 years, during which they had two children, John Richard and Jenelle. Jerrie and John resided in the same home in North Little Rock and attended Lakewood United Methodist Church for over 47 years.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Jerrie is survived by her children, Janis Rae Radecki of Indio, California, John Richard Derickson of Little Rock, and Jenelle Louise Kelly of Missouri City, Texas; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church, with visitation preceding the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception at the church will follow the service.
