JeJo Mobley of Little Rock died Wednesday, June 3, 2009. She was the daughter of Mary Biltz Mobley of Conway and Lawrence E. Mobley of Little Rock. Reared in Conway, JeJo graduated from Conway High School in 1969 and Hendrix College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in business and economics. She worked as an Accounting Supervisor at Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Having suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since age 13, JeJo was a champion for those who suffered from disabilities. She was an active member of the Arkansas Arthritis Foundation Board, serving as its treasurer. JeJo was appointed by three different governors to serve on the Arkansas Commission for People with Disabilities to help raise awareness of the challenges people with disabilities face. Additionally, she served on the Governor's Advisory Council for Volunteerism. She was a member of the Consumer Advisory Panel for Southwestern Bell and also served on the Parks and Tourism Commission of Mineral Springs.
As an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, JeJo served on the Board of Stewards and chaired the Broadcast Ministry, and remained an Emeritus Member of that committee. She served on the Mission Board, was a member of the Newton Good News Sunday School Class, the Circle of Hope, the Mann Christcare Group, the Internet and Communication Ministries and the Duncan United Methodist Shalom Ministry. She participated in numerous Bible Study groups and the PHUMC Cancer Friends Support Group.
Her mother, father and stepmother, Freda Wilson Mobley, two sisters, Jane Turney and her husband, Dr. Howard Turney and nephew, Howard "Bo" Moose Turney, Jr., all of Little Rock and Joy Williams and her husband, Grady Williams of Conway and his children, Shannon Williams and husband, Will and Keith Williams and wife, Ashley, survive her.
Aunts and uncles who survive her include Paul M. Biltz of Tokyo, Japan, Evelyn "Ebby" Elser of Hot Springs, Lloyd Mobley of Little Rock and Dan and Mary Mobley of Benton. Longtime friend, Bobby Tullis, also survives her. She leaves behind her cherished cat, Sadie.
A memorial service celebrating JeJo's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7 at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Vic Nixon, Rev. Lynn Lindsey and Dr. Jeff Hampton. A reception will follow in Wesley Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the PHUMC Foundation JeJo Mobley Endowment Fund, the PHUMC Broadcast Ministry or the Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Research Foundation.
