Jeff Billy Deaton, age 89, of Alpine, passed from this life on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was born November 26, 1928, in the Fendley community, the youngest son of Jeff Green Deaton and Carrie Walker Deaton.
He was a U.S. Airforce Veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1951 - 1955. Jeff (Bill) worked to build DeGray Lake and retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers - DeGray Lake. He was a member of Amity Second Baptist Church.
Jeff (Bill) was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Green Deaton and mother, Carrie Walker Deaton as well as siblings, Ermon Deaton, Homer Deaton, James Ray Deaton, Auttie Deaton, Lottie Treat, Mary Strother and Ruth Deaton.
Jeff (Bill) is survived by his wife, Clara, and daughters, Debbie Sorrells of Alpine, Lecia Franklin (Darrell) of Amity, Danette Jennings (Gary) of Bismarck, and 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey Sorrells of Bryant, Brady Sorrells of North Little Rock, Lily Franklin of Amity, Ethan Jennings of Bismarck, David (Misty) Jennings of Donaldson, Saundra Schultz (J.R.) of Bismarck and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ruggles Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with Jimmy Forsythe and Gary Jennings officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fendley community.
