Jeannine Quenin Thompson, 81, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007. Born in Fort Smith to Henry and Lois Quenin, she attended Fort Smith public schools with her twin sister Betsy. Both Jeannine and Betsy graduated from Texas Women?s University with a degree in Art.
She married Gene Thompson in 1946 while he completed his degree at Okla. Univ. after WWII. They later moved to Little Rock where she worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank and then Terminex. In the early 60?s Jeannine began raising and showing German Shepherd dogs which led her to starting the Grooming Table for pet grooming and boarding. During that time she served as president of the German Shepherd Dog Club and was and active member in the American Kennel Club. She was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
?Jeanne?, as she was known to her family and friends, was an outgoing, active, loving and generous person all of her life. She always had a place in her heart for n abandoned pet or a soul needing to be comforted. ?NeNe?, her affectionate name given by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an avid fan and supporter of each of their aspirations, academic and athletic endeavors.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Gene (retired from Riggs Tractor), her only child and son, Richard and wife Tammy. Grandchildren are Rett, Allie, Jason and wife Dawn and children (Dylan, Amber, Paige), and Kerry Nelson and husband Paul and children (Zachary and Annabella). She is also survived by her brother Paul Quenin and wife Francis, Hugh Quenin and wife Rubye and niece Nannette Shehab, Jeanne was predeceased by her twin sister Betsy Shehab and her brother Henry ?Buddy? Quenin. Special thanks to all of her caregivers, medical staff and physicians.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist, 4823 Woodlawn Ave. in Little Rock with graveside services at Pinecrest Memorial on Hwy 5 in Alexander following the service. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. in North Little Rock, 758-1170. Memorials may be made to the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Shepherds Ministry or to the American Lung Association.
