She was recognized for a lifetime of dedication to the children of Little Rock by the Arkansas Montessori Society, in October of 1993 and by the Little Rock Montessori School in 2005. Teaching was never a job for her: it was a passion. She made every child feel special in her presence. She gave children encouragement, affirmation, self-assurance, attention and love.
It is impossible to overstate the contribution that Miss Jean made to the community and our children. Miss Jean was the Reading and Music teacher at the Little Rock Montessori School for over 15 years. She started numerous children on the path to reading. She taught with clarity and compassion, giving a part of herself to each child. Her broad life experience and commitment to excellence shone through each of her students.
Miss Jean was a model of resilience and an example to us all. Though she is gone, her impact lives on in the hearts and minds of hundreds of children and their parents.
