Jean Patricia “Pat” Dannahy Reidy of North Little Rock passed away May 14, 2023. Pat was born on March 3, 1922 to John Patrick Dannahy and Florence Lynch Dannahy in Almirante, Panama where her father was Export Superintendent for the United Fruit Company Steamship Line. While living in Panama, Pat attended St. Mary of the Pines boarding school in Chatawa, Mississippi, during the school year, beginning when she was eight. When she was ten, Pat moved with her family to New Orleans, Louisiana, still attending St. Mary of the Pines, from where she graduated in May, 1939.
Pat was married to Lt. Colonel Rudy Reidy for 63 years. They lived in various posts in the United States and overseas, including Japan and Germany. While they were in Germany, they adopted their son, Bill, who was the light of their lives, until his unexpected death at 27 years of age. Pat and Rudy settled in North Little Rock, Arkansas during their later years and stayed active with many interests. Pat’s sister, Many Dannahy, shared their home until her death in 1999.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Pat was a witty and fun-loving, young-at-heart individual who will be missed by many. She was very active at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock. Some of the ministries in which she participated were: long-time member and past president of the Altar Society, leader of a Renew faith-formation group, member of the prayer network, and Sunday coffee group. She also enjoyed her work for several years as a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Donor Program and St. Joseph’s Home for Children.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, husband, son, and sister. She is survived by Sister Ann Marie Wood (Seattle, WA) an especially-loved godchild and many nieces and nephews of her husband. Special thanks to long-time friend and caretaker, Velma McCoy from Home Instead, the staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living Facility in Sherwood, and Premier at the Springs Nursing Home in North Little Rock, for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation and Rosary is at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
