Jean Major, 81, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, August 13, 2007. She was born Margaret Jean Finger, February 14, 1926 in Elkins, Arkansas to B.F. and Hazel Finger. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. ?Mouse? Major, Sr. She was a retired office manager for Deloitte Touche. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church since 1956. She held many offices within the local church, district and conference. She was one of the first female certified lay speakers for the United Methodist Church in Arkansas. She was also the first woman to be named Chairman of the Lakewood Administrative Board. She was a member of the following organizations, PEO Chapter W, North Little Rock Jr. League, National Junior Auxiliary and served as National Recording Secretary.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen White, of North Little Rock and Jackie Hendrix, of Little Rock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Kathy Major, of North Little Rock and Jac and Terry Major, of Sherwood; four grandchildren, Julie Woody (Jeremy), of Bentonville, Justin Major, of North Little Rock, Joe Major, of New York City and Mary Beth Major, of Sherwood; great-grandchildren, John Henry Major, Alex Woody, Mikayla Major and Lauren Woody and many nieces and nephews.
Her loving and caring nature will be missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Robinson Nursing Center and Arkansas Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday at Pinecrest Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday at Lakewood United Methodist Church.
