Jean Hayes

Jean D. Hayes, 87, of Maumelle passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was born November 1, 1929 in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania to Paul and Kathryn Angstadt. She graduated from Reading Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1950. After moving to Arkansas in 1961, she received a BSN from UAMS in 1969, retired from UAMS Department of Nursing in 1990 after 29 years of employment and retired from 40 years of nursing but continued doing volunteer work at Hope Ministry in North Little Rock. Jean was a school monitor at Cedar Heights Academy in North Little Rock and was an active member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church. She had a membership in the Arkansas State Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau (International Honor Society of Nursing), and received the UAMS Service Award from the College of Nursing at the Golden Anniversary Alumni celebration in April 2003.
Jean is survived by her siblings, Dallas Angstadt of Mertztown, PA, Larry Angstadt of Fleetwwod, PA and Linda Bullock of Fleetwood, PA; two grandchildren, Sara Gibson Jeffers and Thomas Gibson Jeffers; three great-grandchildren, Kadon, Zane, and Leah Gibson Jeffers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Walter Gibson and Herbert Hayes; and her son, Donald W. Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 14510 Cedar Heights Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Cedar Heights Baptist Church with a visitation prior to service at 10:00 a.m., at the church.
