Jean Gregg

Jean Gregg, 84, of Little Rock, passed to her heavenly home on August 23, 2014. She was born November 28, 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio, to E.L. and Mary Hadley. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Guy Gregg; four children, Janet Mong (Jim) of Columbiana, Ohio, Gary Gregg (Carolyn) of Searcy, Arkansas, Gail Gregg (Joan) of Abilene, Texas, and Joy Clark (Dain) of Pavo, Georgia; her sister, Phyllis Hadley of Abilene, Texas. A grandmother of 11 including Daniel Mong (Kandis) of Newnan , GA; Angie Mong Haustein (Hans) of North Little Rock; Rance Gregg (Heather) of Rogers; Heather Gregg Idhe (Landon) of Nashville, TN; Sarah Gregg Shappley (Taylor) of Collierville, TN; Grant Gregg (Jennifer) of Abilene, TX; Jamie Gregg Peel (Jared) of Prosper, TX; Julie Gregg Carroll (Jerrod) of Abilene, TX; Camden Clark (Dana) of Auburn, AL; Emily Clark Hill (David) of Little Rock; and Rachel Clark of Pavo, GA.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

"Grandma was the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31," as one of her grandsons testified. Jean was a faithful Christian, a loving wife, and a mother totally dedicated to her children. She and Guy were members of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock for twenty-nine years where she served in various ministries. Wherever they lived, Jean was active in serving members of the church by cooking, baking, and sewing. For many years she joined others at church every Wednesday morning working in the World Bible School office, sending the gospel via Bible correspondence lessons to many foreign countries.

In early fall she would often take a part-time job with the election commission, or she would work for one of the local clothing stores in the alterations department in order to provide Christmas gifts for her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress who made many of her children's clothes as well as her own. The love she had for sewing and years of experience caused her to join a group of ladies who made baby quilts for the newborns at her church. Eventually she was showing others how to cut the pieces of cloth and sew the little quilts. That ministry is called the "Piecemakers Quilting Group" and is appreciated by many young mothers. It is estimated that she helped make 150 quilts for the babies of her church.

This virtuous woman leaves a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and greatly respected her.
