Jean Davis Golden, age 71, of Alpine, went to be with her Lord with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Jean was born on February 9, 1943 in Whitewright, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Davis and Louise Young Davis Stroud; her brother, Charles Ray Davis; and her sister, Becky Davis Hancock. Jean is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marvin H. Golden of Alpine; two children, Wayne Golden of Bryant and Rebecca Golden of Arkadelphia; three grandchildren, Brandi D. Strickland and her husband, T.J., Callie L. Golden and Fred W. Golden; three great-grandchildren, Gavin R. Golden, Lenora J. Strickland and Lora Lee I. Strickland; one brother, Kenneth Davis of Amity; her in-laws, Jim and Terri Golden of Camden, Wanda Carter of Caruthers, California, Kay Golden of Hot Springs, Johnnye Davis of Murfreesboro, Barbara Davis of Amity, and Vickie and David Egleston of Arkadelphia. Jean's babysitting kids and nieces and nephews became the children of her heart: Cathy Wright, Lisa Gray, Larry Carter, Kitty Wise, Tisha Bardwell Long, Marty Bardwell, Candace Russel, Jeremy "Buster" Jones, Crystal Franklin Smith, Shane Davis, Heather Vaughn Bankhead, Jennifer Carter, Charles Egleston, Christina Egleston, Vanessa Buck Bateman, Zackary Buck, Morgan Golden, and Kendall Golden. She will be missed, but not forgotten. Our love for her and her memory will live on in the hearts she has touched. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2014, in the Amity First Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally and Bro. T. J. Strickland officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Alpine Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alpine Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 41, Amity, Arkansas, 71921, or to the charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Jerry Fagan, Perry Tilley, Barry Bankhead, D.J. Weeks, Vance Buck, Mark Barkman, Zachary Buck and Dwight Weeks. Honorary pallbearers are the Alpine Fire Department.
