Jayne Martha Eakin

Jayne Martha Eakin left this earth and went home on August 13, 2022. Born on September 11, 1927, she was the youngest of thirteen to Blaz and Annie Hackman. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her parents migrated from Germany through Ellis Island and landed in Tonopah, Nevada. The baby of twelve, Jayne soon was ready to spread her wings and took off to San Francisco where she met her soon to be husband, sailor, John Eakin who was serving in the War. They later moved to Nash, Texas and eventually to Gurdon, Arkansas where John had family so they could raise their children.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Eakin and twelve siblings.

Survivors are a son, Randy Eakin and daughters, Debra Eakin Key Hujanen and Nancy Dato; seven grandchildren, Angie Key, Christian Key Johnston, Jennifer Eakin Sparks, John Eakin II, Kaitlyn Eakin, Gabriel Dato and Zachary Dato; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Her biggest love was helping her family. She also worked in her early years helping residents at the Gurdon nursing home (which she loved) as well as serving the public in her mom-and-pop grocery store/ laundromat for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation who took great care of her for the last few years as well as Dr. Dorman and staff at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

She was a feisty woman up until the very end and will be greatly missed. A private service will be held for the family later under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
