Jason Pettey, 77, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008. He was born in Hazen, Arkansas on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931 to Carrie Avis Shumaker Pettey and George Wesley Pettey
Following his graduation from DeValls Bluff High School in 1950, Jason joined the Army and served for two years. He then went to the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1958 with a B.S. in Agriculture. He went on to teach for several years before changing careers and becoming an insurance adjuster for Calvert Fire Insurance Company. He eventually retired from Allstate Insurance Company where he had worked as a claims representative for 17 years.
He was married to Doris Loudermilk on August 31, 1952 and is survived by her and their three sons: Bruce (Chrisila), Jay (Glenese) and Phillip (Missy). He is also survived by two brothers: Ensley (Peggy) and Ivan (Brenda) and one sister: Mavis Paxton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
Jason was a long time member of the Levy Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Levy Church of Christ Mission Fund, 5124 Camp Robinson R., North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72118; or to Southern Christian Home, 100 West Harding St., Morrilton, Arkansas, 72110.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Peppers Lake Cemetery in DeValls Bluff.
