Jason "Tom" Connaughton, 57, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Benton. Born February 17, 1953 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Claretta and Michael Connaughton.
Tom was a Renaissance man in the truest sense of the word. He could fix anything and had the unique ability to evaluate any situation for a solution. If there was not a tool he needed available on the market, he would just simply design one, one of which became patented. His two passions in life were sitting in the cockpit of an airplane and playing with his animals. He was known to adopt any stray that needed a home, including his beloved raccoons. Tom was a graduate of Bolivar Aviation International School of Aeronautics and a certified commercial flight instructor.
He is survived by three daughters, Melissa Connaughton Barber of Cabot and Amy and Stephanie Connaughton of Nevada; brother, Dr. Andy Connaughton of Conway; sisters, Ann Connaughton of Benton and Mary Oltmann of Brinkley; and three grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, 1003 North Tyler, celebrated by Msgr. J. Gaston Hebert, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
