Jarrell G. McCain, age 93, was born in Highland, Arkansas to Laura Pye and Hosea Garrett McCain November 11, 1913. He went to his home with our God on March 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lindell McCain of Pensacola, Florida. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Hazel Baird McCain of Little Rock, and his daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Smith Fausett of Little Rock; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who knew him as "their Papa", Kristin Fausett of Austin, Texas; Bret and Hilary Fausett and Asher, Eleanor and Claire Fausett of Glendale, California; and Kelly Fausett Ross and Mitchell Ross, and Courtney and Mitch Ross of Little Rock; and a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Herman Brown of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCain worked for the Federal Government for thirty-nine years, and received numerous awards for improvements and innovations in the workplace. He served in the Arkansas National Guard, and after his federal retirement, he was employed by the Texas Public School System. He was a "problem solver" and at home, he thought WD40 would repair most everything. He will be loved and missed always by his family, and remembered as a sweet and kind man, by old friends as well as new ones he met after moving to Little Rock eight years ago. He was a loving husband to Hazel, and a kind and giving father to his daughter Lynda and to her family. He had a quiet and strong faith that sustained him throughout his life. He was always interested in the activities and achievements of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in having a long life to enjoy them. We have special appreciation for caregivers, Nancy Hegwood, Francell Perkins, and the staff of Briarwood Nursing and Rehab, and the caring people at Baptist Hospital.
A private graveside service celebrating his life will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park on Monday, March 19. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Trinity Assembly at 11120 Cantrell Road, or the Pulaski County Humane Society in honor of "Muffin McCain", a faithful companion for eight years. The family will be at 10709 Platte Valley Drive on Monday, March 19th from 12 until 2:00 p.m.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, (501)224-2200.
