He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving on the USS Iowa and USS New Jersey, with his brother Bill. Jerry then worked alongside his brothers Al and Bill in the family business, Wrape Forest Industries, and later as a stockbroker and wealth manager at Prudential.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Keith Wrape, having just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on October 2. Also surviving are his sister, Ann James; brother, William R. Wrape; children, Jerry Wrappe, Jr. of St. Joseph, MO; Tom (Melanie Hanssen) Wrappe of Los Gatos, CA, Steve (Maureen Kerrigan) Wrappe of Great Falls, VA and Joan (Monty) Kickert of Leesburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Barb Wrappe of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Megan Wrappe, Allen Wrappe, Thomas Wrappe, Will Wrappe, Max Wragan, Jack Wragan and Anne Kickert; and an extensive family of nieces and nephews of the Wrape, James, Nenon, Keith and Cook families. Jerry loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer and elk hunting and took pride in his maintained yard. He loved playing cards, especially with his best buddy, Jim Chronister and their wives. In his leisure time he could often be found watching sports, especially his alma mater, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He discovered a passion for running during his 50s, running mid to long distances and even completed the New York Marathon.
Jerry was known for being a man of faith and a close friend and supporter of the Carmelite Sisters of Little Rock and the Carmelite Friars of Marylake Monastery. He contributed humor and lightness to all around. "Uncle Jerry" was known for his good humor and teasing. He was well loved and added excitement and fun to any gathering, and was often a silent support to those who needed it.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Jerry’s loving caretakers and the staffs of SeniorKare, Woodland Heights, UAMS and Arkansas Hospice.
