Jarrell Bentley

Jarrell Lee Bentley, 85, of North Little Rock went to be with His Lord and Savior on Monday, March 8, 2010. He was born on May 4, 1924 in Little Rock. He and his late brother Harrell were the first set of twins born at New General Hospital (now MacArthur Park). He was a member and deacon of Baring Cross Baptist Church for 50+ years before joining First Baptist Church of Sherwood in 2003. He served his country during WWII as a Merchant Sailor/Third Mate aboard Liberty Ships.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olive Pearl Gill Bentley; two daughters, Beverly Kleweno (Doug) of Athens, Georgia and Krista Geran (David) of Sherwood; four grandchildren, Keri Geran Boyd (Jeff), Matt Kleweno (April), Kurt Geran (Jill) and Amanda Kleweno Stewart (Justin); two great grandchildren, Caroline and Carlee Boyd; as well as a host of other family and friends.
He was a Master Electrician and line construction foreman for Local Union 295, a member of IBEW, a choir member and teacher. He was happiest when he was helping others. He tutored elementary children, taught Young Married Couples in Sunday School and was named "Electrician of the Year". He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sherwood, 701 Country Club Road, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at First Baptist Church of Sherwood with Rev. Paul McClung officiating. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
