Janie Rebecca Denson Tyler, 91, of Little Rock, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010. Born in Warren, Arkansas on June 20, 1918 to William Albert and Faye Wilson Denson, she earned her diploma from the Baptist School of Nursing in 1939 and worked as an R.N. at Arkansas Children's Hospital and Baptist Hospital, where she retired as the nurse administrator. After retirement, she returned to Baptist Hospital for twenty more years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, William Daniel (Danny) Tyler and his wife, Patty of Tampa, Florida; one grandson, William Daniel (Dan) Tyler, Jr. and his fiancée, Jolien Verdaasdonk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tyler was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Visitation will be this evening, Friday from 3-5 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 24 at the funeral home, officiated by Chaplain Charles Chamblee. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Health School of Nursing, 11900 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, AR 72210.
