Janice Kay Davis, 75, of Holmes Beach (Anna Marie Island), Florida, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010. Born in Flint, Michigan to Milford Robert Daugherty and Bernice Lillian Averill, she was an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the Wood Badge beads and attending two National Scout Jamborees and an International Scout Jamboree as a staff leader. She received the Silver Beaver Award (highest award granted to an adult leader in Boy Scouts) and the Saint George Award (she was the first female to be granted this award) which is granted through the Episcopal Church for her active involvement in Boy Scouts. Her active involvement and passion encouraged her sons, Charles Robert Davis and Baron Daugherty Davis, and grandson, Michael Ross Karls, to attain the rank of Eagle Scout (the highest rank in Boy Scouts). She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed working on arts and crafts.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman Harcourt Davis III and her brother, Charles Robert Daugherty, she is survived by her daughter, Victoria Leigh Davis Karls of Fox River Grove, Illinois; and sons, Norman (Ivanhia) Harcourt Davis IV of Spring Hill, Florida, Charles Robert Davis of Madison, Alabama, Baron Daugherty (Elena) Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas, Stuart Maxwell (Sharon) Davis of Pflugerville, Texas and Christopher Ian Davis of Lake Zurich, Illinois.
She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Larry) Williams of Houghton Lake, Michigan; grandsons, Michael Ross Karls, Inti Manuel (Katherine) Cubillo, Norman Harcourt Davis V, Baron Mark Davis and Seamus Wong Davis; granddaughters, Melissa Xiomara Davis, Jasmina Alexus Davis and Seanna Erin Davis; and great-granddaughters, Alexis Cameron Cubillo, Sydney Camdon Cubillo and Bailey Noelle Cubillo.
