On Sunday, August 4th, 2024, Erma “Janice” Craig- Archer, 91, met Jesus face to face. While singing and dancing her way into heaven, she was met with “well done, good and faithful servant."
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Archer; sisters, Jeanette (Kenneth) Wiley, Allene (Jimmy) Yukom, Gail (Jimmy Dan) Mitchell, Edith (Henry) Reese; two brothers, Floyd (Marcie) Craig, Freddy Craig; and son in law, Robbie Wingo.
Janice was born on April 28th,1933, in Humphries, Arkansas, to Ted and Sadie (Brewer) Craig, the oldest of eleven children. This was the foundation of her ability to be the best mother (and grandmother) in the world. On January 1st,1952 Glenn Archer sweet talked his way into getting Janice to marry him and growing old with one another. Together, they welcomed three children, Craig, Gary, and Cheri. Janice stayed home with them, cooking their favorite meals and making their clothes for school. Janice spent many years in PTA while her children were in school, volunteering with Associated Women for Harding, teaching Sunday School at Richard Street / Airport Road Church of Christ, and teaching PreK at Happiness Hills. To know her was to love her and be loved by her. Her home cooked meals can only be described as something that angels made, especially her banana pudding. Loving others and teaching others about Jesus was truly her life story.
She is survived by her sons, Craig Archer of Hot Springs and Gary Archer of Glenwood; daughter, Cheri (the late Robbie) Wingo of Hot Springs; brothers, James “Shine” (Judy) Craig of Bridge City, Texas, Bennie Craig of Bridge City, Texas; sisters, Rebecca (Peder) Rysumus of Seattle, WA, Donna (Fred) Irby of Silsbee, Texas; six grandchildren, Dodge Archer of Glenwood, Jace (Veronica) Archer of Benton, Michael Archer of Traskwood, Amberly (Brandon) Puckett of Traskwood, Megan (Justin) Miller of Pearcy, and Ryan (Heather) Wingo of Pearcy; and six great grandchildren, Brooklyn Archer of Benton, Cole Puckett of Traskwood, Kylie Moseley, Noah Miller, Raegan Dowell and Weston Miller of Pearcy; and a whole clan of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Thursday, August 8th at Smith Family Funeral Home Hot Springs. Visitation will be 9:30 AM with the service starting at 10AM.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 2nd floor of CHI, Audrey and Noah with Arkansas Hospice and especially Tania, who loved and cared for our precious mother/grandmother during her stay. Tania, you are an angel on earth and we are forever grateful for your care and love.
