Janet Whittington

Janet Whittington, age 54, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023.

 She was born on December 2, 1968, in Kilmichael, Mississippi. Janet dedicated her life to taking care of her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. Her passion for cooking and baking brought joy to those around her. Her family fondly remembers the delicious aromas that filled their home and the love that went into every dish she prepared.

A woman with a heart full of compassion, Janet was known for her sweet soul. Friends and family could always count on her for a listening ear and comforting words of wisdom. Her nurturing nature extended beyond the household, as she selflessly offered support to anyone in need.  Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, especially passing the time away playing Phase 10 with the grandchildren.

In Janet's free time, she enjoyed being outdoors, especially during the summertime. Fishing became one of her favorite pastimes, where she could relax by the water and savor the tranquility of nature. Janet also had an immense affection for dogs, finding comfort and companionship in their loyal presence.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, James Earl Vancleave and Jimmie Rae Wofford; her grandmother, Ruby Fowler; one aunt, Earline King; and one uncle, Elmer Woods.

She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Whittington; her daughter, Jessica Frost; her daughter, Brittany Dees and her children, Lindsey Kate McKinney and Emily Marie Ward; daughter, Angela Mechelle Prestige and her children, Bree Prestige and April Boatner; several wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

As we bid farewell to Janet Whittington, let us remember the legacy she leaves behind. Her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
