Janet Eileen Campbell Oaks, also known as JitterBug, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, at the age of 82 in Mayflower, Arkansas. She was born on November 22, 1940, in Bigelow, Arkansas, in her childhood home to her father Johnie Ray Campbell and the late Wilma Jean Egger Campbell.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo Clayton Oaks, son Tony Oaks, daughters Candice Oaks Bogel and Meloney Kristofik, mother Wilma Jean Egger Campbell, and sisters Kay Ross and Carolyn Hovenkamp.
Janet was a loving and devoted mother, survived by her daughter Tammy Kinsey and son Leo Clayton Oaks Jr. She cherished her role as a mother to all five of her children and made each family member feel as if they were her favorite.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Brad Oaks, Nikki Thomas, Clint Oaks, Cody Dowd, River and Kory Jones, Autumn and Jeremy Reaves. Janet is also survived by her daughters-in-law Cindy Oaks Marshall and Sheryl Ellis Oaks. Great grandchildren, Cassie Oaks, Megan and Nolan kinder, Sierra Thomas, Sadie Thomas, Autumn Dowd, Jacie Oaks, Paisley Reaves, Augustus Reaves, Stetson Jones and Field Jones.
In her early years, Janet excelled as a homemaker and mother. She later worked in inventory control for Kroger grocery and ventured into construction management after the passing of her husband, Leo.
Outside of work, Janet had a vibrant personality and enjoyed various hobbies. She was crowned the Perry County Fair Queen in 1955 and had a deep love for holidays, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks. Janet was known for hosting game day and Super Bowl watch parties, bringing everyone together for food and laughter at her house.
A visitation for Janet will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Bigelow Baptist Church, 220 Holden, Bigelow, AR. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 220 Holden, Bigelow, AR. A burial will occur Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Voleman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to the Volman Cemetery Fund in memory of Janet Eileen Oaks.
Janet's legacy of love and unwavering support for her family will forever be cherished. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
