Janet Holmes

Janet Lynn (Burr) Holmes passed on to receive her heavenly reward on Wednesday, December 31st, 2014, at her home in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was 66 years of age.
She was born on January 7th, 1948 in Okemah, Oklahoma to the Reverend Murray E. and Hattie Ellen Burr.
Janet was a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, receiving her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
On December 31st, 1971, Janet and the Reverend Joel Holmes, who lovingly called her Jan, were married. She has faithfully served as the First Lady of the First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock for the past 43 years. She was known for her hospitable spirit and warm smile, often described by many as graceful, elegant, and classy. Jan loved serving the church congregation and expressed her love through giving to others and showing affection. She had the special gift of knowing the right words to say, or pen, to bring encouragement to those who were in need -known by many for her beautifully handwritten cards and notes.
Jan was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, visiting the places of which she read as a child. She found great joy in her English garden and growing orchids. Other things that brought her pleasure were setting a pretty table for her family, fresh cut flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her husband Joel; her daughter Andrea and husband Roger Cypert; her son, Nathan and wife Amanda; five grandchildren, Cydney and Claire Cypert, Benson, Beatrice, and Camilla Holmes; her mother, Hattie Ellen Burr; her aunt, Doris Seaman; a host of extended family and friends; and the loving congregation of the First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 4th from 6:00-9:00 PM at the First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock. The memorial service will be held Monday, January 5th, at 7:00 PM at the First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock. Interment will be Tuesday, January 6th at 10:00 AM at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Janet L.
