Jane Elizabeth Hill Pritchard Stanley, (Janie), passed away Wednesday, February 22nd. She was born September 18, 1919 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Wilsie Baumgarnier and Thomas A. Hill. Her father was Speaker of the House in the Arkansas Legislature in 1925. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School and William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri.
Janie was preceded in death by her brothers, William C. and Robert B. Hill; her son, Thomas A. Pritchard; and both of her husbands, Albert Pritchard and Charles Stanley.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Carte; a stepson, Loyd Stanley and his wife Kaye; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Pritchard; a special sister-in-law and dear friend, Marion Hill; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three nephews and four nieces.
Janie was a secretary for the Red Cross, a bookkeeper for First Federal Savings and Loan and sold real estate. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and enjoyed singing in various church choirs throughout her lifetime.
Janie was very interested in understanding what the human mind was capable of and taught mind-control classes in the seventies. She said she inherited a gift from her mother, and her friends and family often dropped by her house to "get their cards read." She occasionally shared this gift over the telephone if need be, all for free and fun of course.
After retirement, Janie became an artist, belonging to several state and national associations including the Mid-Southern Watercolorist, winning many awards including one from Watercolor USA for her paintings. An often requested gift by a family member was a personal painting from Janie.
Visitation will be Monday, the 27th of February from 9:30 to 10 a.m. with the service immediately following in the chapel at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Institute of Cancer, 1759 "R" NW, Washington, DC 20009.
