Jane Ann Bales McBride, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on July 25, 1951, to the late Jack and Polly Bales in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jane Ann lived a life filled with adventure and love.
In her early adulthood, Jane Ann traveled across the United States as the wife of a jockey, immersing herself in the world of horse racing—a passion that remained with her throughout her life. She was an avid caretaker of her horses and found great joy in dealing antiques, gardening, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Jane Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Polly Bales; her brother, Jack Lee Bales Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Mike Spencer.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Jane Ann is survived by her beloved children; daughters, Dawna (Jimmy) Pendarvis, and Jayme (Joe) Herbert, and son Patrick (Wynoma) McBride; her grandchildren, Jesse, Jake, Josh, Pierce, Kennedy, Alley, and Andi; Jane is also survived by her sister, Joy Spencer; sister-in-law, Judy Bales; her children's father, Burl McBride; her children's bonus brother, Andrew Stauffacher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial service in honor of Jane Ann will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Smith Funeral Home, led by her cousin Bobby Bland. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 AM. Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
