James Odell Wharton, 65, of North Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012. He worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, rooting on the Razorbacks, and he will be missed by his family, friends and dog, Molly, who loved and adored him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wharton; son, James Allan "Bo" Wharton and wife Stacie of North Little Rock; daughters, Karen Lee, Kim King and her husband Jeff all of Maumelle; grandchildren, Tanner Pruss, Courtney Wharton, Chad Wharton, Trent Pruss and Cassidy Wharton; brother, Gary Wharton and wife Lynn of Quitman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestal and Hettie Wharton.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 909 West 2nd Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
