James Lloyd

James Turner Lloyd III passed away Tuesday, January 20th, 2015. Turner was born on August 21st, 1935. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Lloyd. Although a sad day for his surviving family, it is a great day for Turner as he is now united with the love of his life.

Turner is survived by three children, Jay Lloyd, Lisa Alexander, John Lloyd, his wife Amy, eight grandchildren, sister Lorene Patterson, her husband Jim, and nephews Keith and Michael McAfee.

Turner was a member of the Little Rock Country Club, Rotary Club, elder and deacon of Second Presbyterian Church, and an active member of Life Quest.

Turner was a graduate of Little Rock High and attended Harvard University where he majored in Economics, graduating magna cum laude. He received his MBA from the University of Virginia.
After completing his education, Turner joined the family business J.T. Lloyd Company. The company was founded in 1889 in Pine Bluff and relocated to Little Rock, where it remained until 1983.

Turner then took a job with Harding Taylor in mergers and acquisitions. He later moved on to work with Emerging Technologies, and eventually he and son John opened up The Coffee Beanery. He retired from the workforce in 2006.

Both he and Liz had over 30 trips to Hawaii with their dear friends Sherwyn and Barbara Hyten. Theirs was truly a tremendous friendship and each considered one another family.

Turner was the consummate family man. Any time he had the chance to have a family gathering he was quick to do so. He and his wife Liz taught Sunday School to be as involved in their kids' lives as possible. His children recall many enjoyable vacations to Florida, Colorado Springs, and the East Coast. When you thought of Turner you could see his smile. The source of his smile was most always his wife and best friend Liz. He was always positive, upbeat, and truly never had a negative thing to say about anyone. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

A special thanks and appreciation go out to Presbyterian Village, Arkansas Hospice, and Dr. Scott Brown for caring for our father.
