James “Ron” Stailey, Sr., passed away on July 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, friendship, and dedication. Born on May 10, 1954, in North Little, AR, Ron lived a full life filled with adventure, selflessness, and camaraderie.
After graduating from North Little Rock High school, and getting his Communications Degree at Community College, Ron served his country as a Staff Sergeant with the Marines from 1969 to 1973, demonstrating his dedication to duty and service for his country. Following his military service, he pursued a career in communication as the man for KEWI and was that familiar voice on Tradio, where he was affectionately known as Ned Wormy. His engaging personality kept everyone entertained with his ability to sweet talk the ladies and make the men feel as if they had made a friend for life.
Among Ron's proudest accomplishments was his role in helping to start med alert in the state of Arkansas during his time as a paramedic. His work in this field touched many lives and made a significant impact on emergency medical care in the region.
Along with being a programmer for YCAT in Saline County, Ron was also an advocate for community safety by co-running the Saline County Sky Warn (Arkansas) Facebook page, where his Hamm Radio call sign was KG5RON. He worked tirelessly to keep the state informed by providing timely warnings for severe weather conditions. His dedication to keeping others safe was truly admirable. He worked all hours of the day and night with his close friends.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Ron found joy in simple pleasures. Game nights with buddies playing Mexican Train and Rummy were cherished moments that brought laughter and unforgettable memories. An avid Razorback fan, he could always be found cheering them on while they played and took immense pride in collecting unique memorabilia related to his favorite team.
Remembered for his loving nature and welcoming spirit, Ron never met a stranger. He had a special fondness for animals, especially dogs who held a place of honor in his heart. His memory will live on through his deeds but also through the love he shared with those around him.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, David and Novell Wilkerson, as well as his beloved fur baby, Buddy.
His memory is left to be cherished by his loving wife of 26 years, Deborah Stailey; children: James Ronald Stailey, Jr. (Debra), Jeanie Traylor (Steve), Jim Loobey (his dog Lily), Jody Loobey (Sarah); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends who quickly became like family.
In celebration of Ron’s life, a service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2647 Morning Star Dr., Benton, AR 72015,
James “Ron” Stailey’s presence will be deeply missed but the impact of his kind spirit and heart will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched countless lives with warmth and compassion.
