James Robson

James Stewart “Jim” Robson, Master Sergeant, Army National Guard (Retired), age 88, passed away on August 21, 2019.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Mary Jo McLin, two daughters, Loretta Avarello of Fort Worth, Texas and Rhonda Robson-Longgrear of Harrison, Arkansas; granddaughters Robyn Jehl of Silver Springs, Texas and Beth Baskin of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Matt Cornelison of Omaha, Nebraska and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Robson of Juno, Texas and mother Ella Mauldin and son Danny Robson.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 25th, 1930 and grew up on a ranch in West Texas near the small town of Juno.  He had a governess on the ranch some years and also attended school in Del Rio and Sonora, Texas.  He and his mother moved to San Antonio in 1944 and he graduated from Harlandale High School in 1947.  Jim worked at Martin Wright Electric Company and Janicke’s Texaco Service Station.  In 1951 Jim Became a Bexar County Police Officer and worked for Legendary Precinct 6 Constable Ed Schaefer, working there for 17 years.  In 1968 he went to work for the Army National Guard in a Civil Service position, he had joined the Guard on May 2, 1950.  Jim attained the rank of First Sergeant.  He moved to Arkansas in 1975 and continued working for the Guard.  He was a member of the Helicopter Aviation Unit at the time of his retirement from the Guard in 1990.  He was called back to Active Duty for Family Support during Desert Storm.  He finished his Guard career with almost 42 years of service.

Jim wants to say that he was so very lucky all through the years to know so many wonderful people and to wind up with his wonderful wife Mary Jo.  It was a great journey.
