James "Jim" Bradley Quinn

James Bradley Quinn (Jim), 71, of North Little Rock passed away on May 7, 2022. He was born July 25, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri to John Quinn II and Ann Ross Quinn. He graduated high school from the Missouri School for the Deaf (his home away from home) in 1972. After graduation he attended Gallaudet University and received a degree in sociology. 

Jim served in the Peace Corps for 3.5 years in the Philippines teaching deaf children. Jim was awarded the Presidential Peace Corps Volunteer of the Year in 1984. Following the Peace Corps, he worked at the Kansas and Arkansas School for the Deaf as a dormitory counselor. He then worked for Arkansas Vocational Rehabilitation Center where he later retired from after 25 years.  

Jim received awards for his service in the Deaf community. He volunteered with Catholic Deaf organizations, St. Mary’s Church, Arkansas Association for the Deaf, and worked to achieve better accessibility for Deaf and hard of hearing people fighting addiction. Jim was instrumental in Arkansas legal battles fighting for Deaf and hard of hearing persons to serve on juries.  

He is preceded in death by parents and brother, John Quinn III.

Jim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Quinn; daughter, Maggie Raglin (Trey) and granddaughter Olivia Raglin; son, Ross Quinn (Kelly Gude); sisters, Cassie, Laura, Mary, Gigi; brother-in-law, Ron; sisters-in-law, Kathy, Jan, Sheila.

Jim loved life, his faith, his family and friends, and the Deaf community. 

A visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM Friday, May 13, 2022, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. The family will host a Memorial Mass that will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Little Rock. Following the Mass, there will be a celebration of life at the Lakewood Clubhouse, 4500 Lakeshore Drive, North Little Rock 72116. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Missouri School for the Deaf Alumni Association, Arkansas Association for the Deaf-Senior Citizens, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church- North Little Rock.
