James Frances “Jim” Perdue passed away Friday, November 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, son James L. Perdue (Sylvia), daughters Julie Perdue Smith (Charles), Cara Carrillo (Javier), and Lynne Perdue, along with 9 beloved grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were his joy. He also leaves behind one brother, Kenneth Perdue (Anita) and a host of nieces of nephews.
Jim was an amateur photographer who would go to any lengths to nab the perfect picture of the perfect flower, mushroom, or hummingbird. He took great pride in the moments that he captured, and was always excited to share his latest picture. His passion for photography is immortalized in his collection of over 10,000 photographs, each and every one a treasured memory for him. Jim was quick to laugh and find the humor in any situation. He loved to poke the bear and was known to play practical jokes on those he loved most. When not enjoying the outdoors, he could be found in his workshop making birdhouses and other woodcrafts.
Always a hard worker, Jim supported his family while completing his bachelor’s degree after 20 years (and two days) as an Army sergeant. He taught his children and grandchildren to be independent and resourceful, with the belief that all goals could be achieved with small steps and hard work.
As a proud veteran, Jim made a point to regularly contribute to organizations dedicated to serving active military personnel and fellow veterans. Nothing was more important to Jim than his family and friends, and he made sure to let them know they were appreciated. He was generous with his time and never hesitated to offer material support, when he was able.
Jim remains fiercely loved, and he will be deeply missed.
