James T. Mulligan, a kind and gentle spirit, passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on December 2, 1934, in Woodberry, Arkansas, James lived a life characterized by his deep commitment to his family, community, and country. A proud veteran, James served in the Navy, exemplifying the values of dedication and service throughout his life. His love for his church family was apparent to all who had the pleasure of knowing him; he found strength and joy in his faith, which guided him in every step he took.
James was a member of the Shriners Club and was also a member of the Masonic community, where he reached the esteemed 32nd degree. His involvement extended to the Order of Eastern Star and the York Rite Masonic Bodies, reflecting a life dedicated not only to personal growth but to the principles of fraternity and benevolence. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from International Paper.
He is survived by his cherished cousins, Vickie Barrett and Libby Baxley, and his lifelong friend, Sue Franklin, along with numerous friends and members of his church family. The impact James had on those around him will be remembered fondly, as he often brought a sense of warmth and unity to every gathering.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Gilbert Mulligan, and his parents, John Thomas Mulligan and Lucian Pope Mulligan. His legacy of kindness and compassion lives on through all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Levy Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Levy Baptist Church where he was a member for many years, 3501 Pike Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72118.
