Command Sgt. Major James W. Mitchell, Sr. (Retired) 83, of North Little Rock went to be with the Lord Monday, December 4, 2006. He was a retired United States Army veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict with 42 years service. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Levy United Methodist Church, a Sunday School Teacher and a Lay Preacher. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Past Master of Mt. Sinai Lodge #749, a member of Scimitar Shrine, Bendemeer Grotto, Rainbow Advisory Board and Eastern Star and recipient of Pillar of Solomon Award.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Ann (Robinson) Mitchell; a daughter, Virginia Ann King of Conway; two sons, James W. Mitchell, Jr. of Heber Springs and Michael Tate Mitchell of North Little Rock; a sister, Elizabeth Coker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Wilma Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff of Northridge Nursing Home for their loving care over the past four months.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Levy United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
