James C. Miller, 81, of Little Rock died on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Hospice Home Care of Little Rock. He was born on May 4, 1925 in Beedeville, Arkansas to the late Roy and Annie Windham Miller. He was preceded in death by both his parents, a brother, Clifton, who died at birth, and a stepson, Blake Tillman. He was a driver for Arkansas Best Freight for 32 years. After his retirement, he worked for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Mr. Miller served in the 39th Infantry under General Douglas McArthur in the Philippines during WWII for which he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Miller was a member of the Otter Creek First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Jacqueline Miller; his three sons, Ben Miller (Georgia) of Mayflower, Dennis Miller of Sheridan and Phil Miller (Debra) of Benton; six grandchildren, Scott Miller (Mimi) of Little Rock, Shannon Myers (Jay) of Conway, Staci Roberts (Jason) of Fayetteville, Miles Miller and Josh Miller of Benton, and Ginny Miller of Sheridan; and six great-grandchildren, Carson, Wilson and Beau Gibson Miller, Miller and Allison Myers, Ridge Roberts, and a great-granddaughter expected in September. He is also survived by one step-daughter, Kim Pennington and three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Denn (Troy), Anna Pennington and Kristen Pennington. He left behind his beloved dog, Carly.
Mr. Miller was affectionately known as "PeePaw" and "Grandaddy." Some say he thought a chocolate shake would fix anything and it usually did. Some say he brought them "M&Ms". No matter, if it was chocolate, it worked. He was a man who truly loved his family and was so proud of each and every one of them.
There will be a memorial service honoring his memory on Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m., at Otter Creek First Baptist Church, conducted by Brother Robert McDaniel. Memorials may be made to Otter Creek Baptist Church.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, (501)224-2200.
