James Marshall

James Franklin Marshall, 76, of Benton, Arkansas passed away April 2, 2018. He was born April 25, 1941 in Shaw, Arkansas to the late Jacob and Ola (Padgett) Marshall.
James was a captain in the United States Army. He retired as a research analysist with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. James was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the church organist. He was also an accomplished piano player. Spending time with family was a priority to James. He loved playing with his bloodhounds, Bentley and Nigel.
Preceding James in death are his parents; and sister, Nina Mae Coppock and her husband Conrad.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of over fifty-one years, Mary Marshall of Benton; two daughters: Christie Golleher and husband Mark of Sardis, Arkansas and Susan Reed and husband Johnny of Benton; five grandchildren: Shane Reed and wife Alyssa, Justin Reed, Christian Appling and husband Taylor, Abbie Golleher, and Marshall Golleher; two great-grandchildren: Jensen Jones and Finn Appling; and a host of family and friends who love James and will miss him always.
Reception visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 4, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton. Funeral service, officiated by Bro. Zack Stringer and Bro. Rick Porter, will be held Thursday, April 5 at 10:00 AM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home with burial following at New Friendship Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Building Project.
