James “Jimmy” Travis Ward, Sr., 84, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022. He was born April 12, 1938 in Mayflower, Arkansas to the late James and Florene Troutman Ward.
He retired from the Arkansas State Health Department after 13 years; was a plumber for 40 plus years since he was 16, and was a member of the Plumbers Pipefitter Union #155. He was a premier outdoorsman, loved the rodeo, and he rode and raced motorcycles. Jim had a passion for his Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Henderson Ward; sons, Jim Ward, Jr. (Betty Sue) of Colorado, Jay Ward (Angie) of North Little Rock and Glenn Ward (Laura) of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Joshua Ward (Marietta), Ian Ward (Kristina), Aaron Ward (Destinee), Jeremy Ward (Rebecca), Jared Ward (Ashley), Lauren Ward, and Lane Ward; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Mia Peyton Ward.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Ward, Ian Ward, Aaron Ward, Jeremy Ward, Jared Ward and Scott Lyles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lane Ward, Eric Hull, Danny Williams, Billy Hand and John Swaggerty.
Memorials may be made to Cedar Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park.
