He graduated in 1968 from Norman High School.  In 1969, he joined the Navy, was a veteran of the Vietnan-era and served until his discharge in 1977.  During Jimmy’s lifetime he has served as a sheriff deputy, worked in the log woods and mill and at the time of his retirement he was a truck driver.  His greatest loves in his life were his wife, Pam, and their love of sharing Saturday morning jackrolls and coffee from Jeremy’s, going to yard sales, auctions, and his nephew, Mike’s, gun shop in Norman, where he could talk for hours about guns.  They also loved going to the deer lease, hunting, riding the roads with Pam, his children and grandchildren, and having cookouts with family and wonderful friends from deer camp.  Jimmy also had a passion for collecting Buck knives.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pamela “Pam” Young Vines of Amity; his four children, Stacy Vines of Hot Springs, Greg Vines of Austin, Texas, Stephanie Lindsey and her husband, Kelley, of Glenwood and Christopher “Chris” Vines of Hot Springs; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Scott of West, Texas; his sister-in-law, Vonda Vines of Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
