James "Jim" Ivy Lasley

James I. Lasley passed away surrounded by his family on April 25, 2023. He was born on June 25, 1931 and was the only child of Edith Lamar Lasley and James Ivy Lasley. After leaving Eudora at the age of 6, they moved to Little Rock. He lived at 23rd and Gaines with his mother after his fathers passing when he was 11 years old. His first job was a paperboy which he held for seven years with the money being used to help pay for their mortgage. He was a proud member of the P.I.A. fraternity in highschool. He graduated from Little Rock High and attended Little Rock Junior College prior to entering the Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he enrolled at the University of Arkansas joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1955 with a degree in Business Administration. He began his career at Rector Phillips and Morse, where he worked until his retirement in 1999.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Leah Shell (Philip); sons, Jimmy Lasley (Amy) and Brian Lasley (Jessica); five grandchildren, John and Rees Shell, Cross Lasley, Caroline and Claudia Lasley; brother-in-law, Dr. Brian E. Barlow (Eva) and their children; a much larger Lamar family and Cashion clan, who were not his cousins.

He was a proud member of the Country Club of Little Rock, and a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon. Professionally he was a member of SIOR, and he held the position of District Vice President.

Services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Second Presbyterian Church with a reception following. Memorials can be made to Second Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
