James Howell

The sweetest man in the world, our Dad, James Herbert Howell, age 90 died peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018, with his family by his side. Dad was born to Maggie Mae & John Herbert Howell on May 7, 1928. He was born in Sylvania, Arkansas and lived there until moving to Maumelle in 2012 to live at The Lakes in Maumelle.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Howell and brothers, Carlee & Henry Howell. He is survived by his son, Rick (Patty), daughter Gloria Rand (John), daughter Linda Peterson (Jimmy). Three grandchildren, Kimberly Mobley, Jason Peterson (Denise), Jennifer York (Mark). Three great grandchildren, Caroline York, Finley Mobley, and Kate Mobley.
Dad was a strong Christian man. Always having a smile on his face, a good word to say about someone, and always looked for the best in a person. His kindness and sweet attitude touched many lives.
Dad was a lifelong member of Sylvania Presbyterian Church. A church he loved and prayed for every day. He held the positions of Elder, Deacon, and his favorite, being a greeter, he loved his family, his friends, and his caretakers, he was a gentle man.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 10:00 A.M at Sylvania Presbyterian Church with Dr. James E. Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at Sylvania Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cheyenne's playground c/o Sylvania Presbyterian Church, 2419 AR Hwy 321 N, Ward, AR 72176. www.SmithWestbrookfuneralhome.com
