Rev. James E. (Jim) Hill passed from this life to the life that awaits all Christian believers on August 4, 2023, at the age of 96 years old.
Although Jim was born in Virginia and grew up in Alabama, most of his adult life and ministry were spent in Arkansas. Following his military service during WWII, he earned degrees from Howard College and Southern Baptist Seminary. Afterward, he served as pastor of two churches in Kentucky and one in Hot Springs, retiring as Director of Missions for Calvary Baptist Association in the Searcy, AR area. After retirement he continued to serve as Interim Pastor and Supply Preacher in several churches before moving to The Atrium in 2010.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Norma Hill.
Together they raised two children, Deborah (David) Wetzler of Hot Springs, and Jonathan Hill of New Orleans, LA. The couple has 3 adult grandchildren, Nathan Wetzler, Kristen Wetzler, and Samantha Hill, of whom they are most proud.
Jim’s life will be celebrated on August 11, 2023, at First Baptist Hot Springs Church, 2350 Central Ave., Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901, with a visitation at 10:00AM and service immediately following at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: First Baptist Church Missions, 2350 Central Ave., Hot Springs, AR 71901.
Pallbearers are Ralph Adcock, Roland Adcock, David Wetzler and Nathan Wetzler.
Honorary pallbearer is Don Puddephatt.
