James Charles Hickman, 74, of North Little Rock passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008. He was born on February 19, 1934 in Little Rock to the late Jim and Theresa Hickman. James was a Little Rock Tech High School graduate and just celebrated with classmates their 55 year class reunion. He was an airplane mechanic in the United States Marine Corp and proudly displayed his ?Once a Marine Always a Marine? license plate on the front of his truck for everyone to see. After his honorable discharge, James worked in the Hickman family grocery store in North Little Rock for 17 years. He was a maintenance supervisor and also worked for Pinkerton as a security guard during his retirement. He was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was looking forward to getting his 45 year pin on May 4, 2008 and was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was of the Baptist faith and was a former Master Scout for the Boy Scouts. He dearly loved fishing, camping, and was an avid hunter. James was Founding father and a member of the Bear House Hunting Club in Ashley County.
James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lehman Hickman; two children, Phyllis Carmical of Sherwood and Randy Hickman of North Little Rock; one grandson, James Hickman of North Little Rock; brothers-in-law, Bill (Lucille) Lehman, Joe Lehman and many cousins, nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
