James Hain

The family of James Anthony "Jim" Hain celebrates the life of our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather who died peacefully on May 11, 2018 in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 86.

Jim is survived by his wife Theresa Zackert Hain; children, Lisa Stahr, James A. Hain, Jr. (Stacey), and Michael Hain (Andrea) of North Little Rock, and Susan Clark (Ken) of Birmingham; siblings, John Hain of Little Rock and Patricia Warner of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary Stahr, Henry Stahr, Ellen Hain, Meredith Hain, Emma Clark, Catherine Clark, Joshua Hain and Sarah Hain. He is preceded in death by his sister Agnes Hain Hudgens.

Jim was born on November 1, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to John and Agnes Hain. He married Terry in 1959 and started a long, beautiful life of family, love and accomplishment in central Arkansas. Jim spent his entire 41-year career in the electrical industry in the state of Arkansas; some of his customers were also his best friends. After retiring from his electrical career, he founded two companies that are still in business today.

Jim was in love with God's creation and the family God gave him. He avidly pursued new interests, and created communities around each one. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard and an accomplished marksman, attending sharpshooter matches across the country. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing, training his own bird dogs. He taught his family the value of an optimistic and hard-working outlook, a smart man who was constantly learning new things. Over time he taught himself to keep bees and harvest honey, make wine and beer, speak Spanish, and master computers. He got a pilot's license at age 55 and had a passion for flying, sailing, and inventing things. He refurbished airplanes and small engines, and loved to cook for large crowds. His restoration of a Piper Vagabond was awarded Best-in-Class at Oshkosh 1997. He shared all of these talents with everyone around him and had an engaging way of bringing people together over shared interests.

He was a lifelong, devout Catholic and member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He regularly volunteered as a cooking teacher at the Hayes Center.
Jim could tell a good joke, and loved to laugh. He was a wonderful provider and example to his children and grandchildren, and loved nothing more than gathering his family and friends. His lasting legacy is one of enthusiasm, optimism and loving support of all around him. Whenever he left your company, he never said goodbye or so long but reminded us all to "Keep Smiling".

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 on May 16th with a reception to follow at the parish hall. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park
