James Carthel Gentry, 84, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, September 27, 2010. He was born August 29, 1926 in Faulkner County, Arkansas to Elbert and Ora Heslep Gentry. He was a founder of Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, a retired North Little Rock Fire Department Captain and was the caretaker and board member of Harmony Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella Elaine (Jackson) Gentry, of North Little Rock; daughter, Rebecca Brewer (Tom) of Carrollton, Texas; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. Sutter and Clint Brewer; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Sutter and Haley Sutter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Jason Williams; and daughter, Janice Gentry Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 S. Pine St., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
