James Ware Garrett, age 86 of Hope formerly of Okolona died Wednesday, Jan 10, 2007 at the Twin Rivers Health & Rehab. He was born July 12, 1920 in Emmett, AR the son of the late Ware and Edith Day Garrett. He was employee of Arkansas Louisiana Gas, member of the Emmett United Methodist Church and a WWII Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Shope Garrett and one son, James Roland Garrett.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Overton of Gurdon; one brother, Bob H. Garrett of Camden; two grandchildren, Jeff Overton and Sarah Compton and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, Jan 12, 2007 in Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM at the Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon. Memorials may be made to the Emmett United Methodist Church or Smyrna Cemetery Fund c/o Vonnie Smith 1369 Davidson Campground Rd, Okolona, AR 71962.
