James Garrett

James Mayo Garrett, 75, of Little Rock, died from complications due to Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, December 7, 2008. He was born April 10, 1933 in Morrillton, Arkansas to James Benton and Margaret Mayo Garrett. He graduated from Wilson High School, where he was raised and from there, attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, graduating with the class of 1955. He was an active member and sang in the church choirs of the United Methodist Churches where he lived.
James lived in Osceola for sixteen years and was a civil engineer for twenty-eight years with the Arkansas Highway Department. He was a member of the Diamond State Chorus and enjoyed participating in the Osceola and Little Rock Community Theater groups.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hart Garrett; daughter, Sara Rose (Tony) of Little Rock; two sons, James Mayo Garrett, Jr. (Robin) and Wesley Lee Garrett (Karen), both of Benton; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 9 at St. James United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Fred Haustein. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Dr., Little Rock, AR 72212 or to the Alzheimers Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham, Ste. 130, Little Rock, AR 72205.
