James Darrel Fortner, 84, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away August 12, 2024. He was born March 6, 1940 in Piggott, Arkansas to the late David and Ruth (Rodery) Fortner.

He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Joe Fortner; brothers, Eugene and Neal Fortner. James Darrel is survived by his wife, Connie Garrett Fortner; sons, Michael Allen Fortner, James Anthony (Tony) Fortner, Jeffrey Wayne Fortner; step-son, Michael Shawn McMoran; siblings, Helen (Ted) Daniels, Jerry (Terry) Fortner, Dennis (Barbara) Fortner, Tom (Sharon) Fortner, Martha (Larry) Mobbs, David (Rosemary) Fortner; sister-in-law, Laura Fortner; along with grandchildren , great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

James Darrel graduated from Campbell High School in Missouri, as Salutatorian. After graduation he moved to Little Rock. He retired after a long and successful career in the life and health insurance industry, the majority of his time employed with National Old Line Insurance Company as a regional agency director. He enjoyed hunting and trout fishing, but most of all he enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens and sharing the produce with friends and neighbors.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24th, at Sylvania Cemetery in Ward, Arkansas.
