James T. "Tad" English, 67, of Benton, AR passed away June 6, 2015. He was born to the late Charles F. and Naomi "Lovie" Chaney-English on March 9, 1948 in Benton, AR.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a field radio operator during the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart Medal and many other medals and commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was part owner of a scuba shop and welding shop in Benton years ago. James enjoyed hunting, wood-working and built low-boy trailers. He was a fighter and was very courageous. James was a man of convictions and always stood for them. He loved well-loved his God, his county, his family and his friends. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, National Rifle Association, and ELVP Hunting Club.
James was preceded in death by his parents; Stella English; and Carl Wayne Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Norma English of Benton, AR; daughter Melissa Austin and husband Adam of Woodstock, GA; grandsons, Seth and Caleb Austin; brother, Charles "Ropey" English of Breman, GA; sisters, Charlene Palmer and husband Adrian of Shiloh, GA and Billie June Davenport and husband Richard of Mount Ida, AR; and many other family members and friends.
Reception visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 5:00 -7:00 P.M., Smith - Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR 72015. Funeral service, officiated by Bro.
