James Smith

James E. Smith (Jim), 74, of North Little Rock, AR went to be with his heavenly father August 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Girthue E. and Lela Mae Smith.

Jim spent 24 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1978. One of his greatest accomplishments was training military dogs to detect bombs, drugs and most importantly protect soldiers. He did several tours of duty and was very proud to serve his country. After serving his country Jim worked as a dispatcher for several trucking companies and the last 4 years at Quest Labs. He loved his job!
He is survived by his daughters, Julie Ann Busick of North Little Rock, AR and Jana Gale Strickland of Atlanta, GA; brother, Bobby Joe Smith of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Robert Wesley Busick of Redding, CA; Specialist Randall Geoffrey Busick of Watertown, NY; and Gabrielle Nicole Strickland of Atlanta, GA.
Memorials may be made to Church for All Nations, P.O. Box 6655, Sherwood, Arkansas 72124.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, AR 72120. Arrangements are being made by North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
